Coinbase and global banking giant Citi have announced a strategic collaboration to explore and develop digital asset payment capabilities for Citi's institutional clients. The partnership will initially focus on improving the infrastructure for converting between fiat currencies and digital assets, often referred to as on-ramps and off-ramps. The collaboration aims to leverage Coinbase's digital asset infrastructure and Citi's extensive global payments network, which spans 94 markets. A key area of exploration will be the use of stablecoins to facilitate more efficient cross-border payments and settlements for institutional clients, highlighting a move towards integrating blockchain technology into mainstream financial services.
