Delta Air Lines and Aeromexico will terminate their long-standing joint venture agreement following a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) ruling that deemed the partnership anticompetitive. The DOT's decision aims to foster greater competition and improve access at Mexico City International Airport, requiring the alliance to be formally dissolved by January 1. The partnership, which had been granted antitrust immunity, allowed the two airlines to coordinate schedules, pricing, and capacity on flights between the United States and Mexico. Despite the termination of the joint venture, Delta and Aeromexico have confirmed that they will maintain their cooperation through ongoing codeshare agreements, loyalty programs, and marketing efforts to ensure continued connectivity for travelers.
