Delta Air Lines canceled 444 flights over a three-day period. The airline reported 157 cancellations on Friday and 219 on Saturday. Sunday, May 3, saw an additional 68 cancellations.

Aviation experts suspect an internal crew scheduling crisis is driving the disruptions. Competitors American, United, and Southwest reported near-zero cancellations during the same timeframe. Delta has not provided a clear explanation for the widespread operational issues.

The airline issued a travel alert specifically for Pellston Regional Airport (PLN). Runway flooding at PLN forced all flight cancellations there until May 5. Delta is offering flexible rebooking for PLN passengers through May 3. This localized flooding does not account for the hundreds of other cancellations across the airline's network.
