Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, Spirit, and JetBlue canceled hundreds of flights on Saturday, January 3, 2026.

The widespread cancellations followed a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) decision to close Caribbean airspace. The FAA cited "safety-of-flight risks associated with ongoing military activity" in Venezuela as the reason for the closure.

In response to the disruption, Delta and other carriers waived change fees and fare differences for affected customers. Travelers may rebook flights for later dates in January.
