Delta Air Lines exercised options on Friday to purchase 34 additional Airbus A321neo aircraft. This transaction marks the carrier's third major aircraft acquisition of 2026. Deliveries for this latest order are scheduled to commence in 2029.

The purchase brings Delta's total A321neo commitment to 189 aircraft. This volume positions the model as the largest fleet type in the airline's history. Delta retains options for an additional 36 A321neo jets.

The A321neo provides 20% to 30% better fuel efficiency than the aircraft it replaces. It maintains the lowest unit cost of any narrowbody plane in the carrier's fleet. These aircraft will feature Pratt & Whitney GTF engines to support Delta's strategy of fleet modernization and increased premium seat capacity.
