Delta Air Lines announced Tuesday it is temporarily suspending special travel services for members of Congress. The airline cited resource strain caused by the prolonged government shutdown as the primary reason for the change.

CEO Ed Bastian expressed outrage that essential TSA personnel are working without pay while security lines grow. Delta stated that providing these perks has become increasingly difficult under current conditions.

The carrier is managing significant operational challenges at its Atlanta hub. It began offering flexible rebooking options for passengers on March 24 due to lengthy security wait times.

Members of Congress will now receive the same customer service as other passengers based on their individual SkyMiles status.
