Delta Air Lines announced plans to introduce a 'Basic Business Class' fare. This move is part of a broader initiative to unbundle all cabin products. Delta aims to complete this full segmentation by the end of 2026.
The airline will extend its fare segmentation beyond the economy cabin. The new structure targets premium offerings, including business class, domestic first class, and premium economy.
The new structure features a three-tier model labeled basic, main, and extra. This allows customers to purchase a premium seat with fewer bundled amenities. Examples of reduced amenities include advanced seat selection or full refundability.
Delta President Glen Hauenstein stated the goal is to disaggregate the seat from other product attributes. This strategy gives travelers more choice while creating new revenue opportunities for the airline. The rollout of this new fare structure is expected to happen progressively throughout 2026.
