Grubhub is waiving delivery and service fees for all restaurant orders exceeding $50 in a strategic effort to gain ground on competitors. The new policy, which begins a limited rollout before a wider launch on February 2, 2026, is designed to increase order sizes, boost customer loyalty, and reduce the high rate of cart abandonment.

This move targets what Grubhub's CEO called the "biggest pain point" for customers, as fees on orders over $50 can average around $13 on delivery platforms. With a market share of just 4%, Grubhub is directly challenging industry leaders DoorDash (71%) and Uber Eats (23%). The announcement led to a brief dip in the stock prices of both DoorDash and Uber as investors weighed the potential for increased competition and pressure on fees across the sector.
