Quince filed an antitrust lawsuit against Deckers Outdoor Corp. in the Northern District of California. The complaint alleges the UGG brand owner engages in anti-competitive practices to maintain high prices.
Quince claims Deckers uses sham trade dress lawsuits to exclude rivals from the sheepskin and shearling-lined footwear market. The lawsuit asserts Deckers attempts to monopolize the market by enforcing unprotectable and unregistered product-design trade dresses.
Deckers allegedly continued this legal strategy after a federal court previously deemed the UGG Tasman design generic.
