The Walt Disney Company launched a third wave of 2026 layoffs. These cuts impact several hundred employees across major divisions to reduce costs.
Affected units include Disney Entertainment Television, National Geographic, Pixar Animation Studios, and ESPN. Disney Entertainment Television eliminated approximately 100 roles. Disney also cut significant staff at National Geographic’s cable and editorial teams.
ABC News let go of about a dozen staff members. Disney has not issued a formal statement, but the moves aim to increase profitability.
