The Walt Disney Company announced it will launch a short-form, vertical video feed on its Disney+ streaming service in the U.S. later this year. The feature, announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), will present a personalized, scrollable feed of "microcontent" on mobile devices, similar to TikTok and Instagram Reels. The goal is to increase daily engagement and transform the platform into a "must-visit daily destination" for users.
The move follows the successful implementation of a similar feature called “Verts” on the ESPN app in 2025. Content for the new Disney+ feed could include original short-form programming, repurposed social clips, and refashioned scenes from existing movies and shows. This strategy is aimed at capturing the attention of younger demographics, like Gen Z and Gen Alpha, who increasingly favor "snackable" content.
