S&P Dow Jones Indices will remove Electronic Arts (EA) from the S&P 500 before the market opens on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
Ferguson Enterprises (FERG) will replace the video game company in the index.
Ferguson operates as a wholesale distributor of plumbing and heating products.
The index rebalancing follows a $55 billion deal to take EA private.

The transaction is expected to close around August 4, 2026.
The deal has received all necessary regulatory approvals.
