Google is stepping up its competition with Apple in digital health through a partnership with Function Health. The integration will let users add Function clinical lab results to the Google Health app alongside data from wearables such as Fitbit and Pixel Watch. The goal is to connect daily habits with biological data and give users a broader view of their health.
Later this fall, users in the U.S. will be able to import results from more than 160 Function lab tests covering cardiovascular, metabolic and hormonal health. Apple recently expanded its Health platform to let users purchase lab tests through Quest Diagnostics.
Google aims to combine lab results with real-time wearable data to provide AI-driven health insights and personalized wellness guidance through Google Health Coach.
