Anthropic filed its lawsuit in March 2026 after the Pentagon blacklisted the company for refusing to allow its AI models to be used for autonomous weapons or mass surveillance. The firm argues the designation serves as unconstitutional retaliation for its safety policies.
Judge Lin previously issued a temporary block on the designation, describing the Pentagon's actions as troubling. She stated the move appeared designed to punish the company rather than address legitimate security concerns.
