Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) secured $1 billion in new equity financing.

This MIT spin-out has now raised a total of $4 billion in capital.

Google-backed CFS ranks among the most well-funded private fusion energy ventures globally.

The capital will fund the completion of the SPARC demonstration fusion machine.

Investment also advances ARC, the company’s first commercial-scale power plant.

CFS aims to deliver power to the grid from its Virginia-based plant in the early 2030s.

The funding round attracted diverse investors, including pension and sovereign wealth funds.
