Mozilla will introduce a new "AI Controls" section in its browser settings, allowing users to disable all current and future generative AI features with a single toggle. The feature is scheduled to roll out with Firefox version 148, expected on February 24, 2026. This development comes in response to feedback from users who prefer not to engage with integrated AI functionalities.

The new settings panel will provide a centralized location to either completely block AI enhancements or manage them on an individual basis. Mozilla's stated goal is to cater to users who want a traditional browsing experience, free from AI, while continuing to develop optional AI tools for those who find them useful. This opt-out approach contrasts with the more integrated AI strategies of competitors.
