YouTube is experimenting with integrating its conversational AI tool, recognized by a Gemini icon, into its app for smart TVs, game consoles, and streaming devices. This feature, previously available on mobile and web platforms, allows viewers to ask questions about the video they are watching using their remote's microphone.
The AI assistant, named "Ask," can provide summaries, answer specific questions about the video's content, and recommend related videos, creating a more interactive viewing experience. The tool is context-aware, focusing only on the video being played. This test is currently limited to a small number of users on select videos and is part of YouTube's strategy to enhance the user experience on large screens, which have become a primary viewing device.
