At its I/O 2026 conference, Google previewed "Android Halo," a new feature designed to show the live activity of an AI agent on a user's phone. It will function as a "subtle communication" at the top of the screen, providing at-a-glance visibility into what an agent is working on without interrupting the current task.

The feature is part of a larger effort to make AI interactions more transparent and seamlessly integrated into the Android operating system. Android Halo is slated to launch later this year and will initially support Gemini Spark, Google's new personal AI agent, as well as other compatible agents.
