Google signed long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Clearway Energy Group. The agreements secure nearly 1.2 gigawatts (GW) of carbon-free energy.
New wind and solar projects will generate the power. These facilities are located in Missouri, Texas, and West Virginia. The energy will support electrical grids powering Google’s U.S. data centers.
The initiative addresses the company's increasing electricity demands, driven by digital infrastructure growth. It also aims to reduce operational carbon emissions. Total investment in the associated new energy infrastructure exceeds $2.4 billion.
Construction of the new facilities is expected to begin soon. Operations are planned to start in 2027 and 2028.
