Google updated its Gemini AI application to generate music using the DeepMind-developed Lyria 3 model. Users can create 30-second audio clips via text descriptions or image references. The tool allows for specific genre, mood, and instrumentation settings while automatically producing lyrics and album art.

The update is currently rolling out to desktop and mobile users. Google watermarks all AI-generated audio with SynthID technology to ensure responsible use. Internal filters prevent the application from mimicking existing artists.

This move positions Google in direct competition with specialized AI music platforms. The integration strengthens Gemini’s competitive standing against rivals such as Microsoft’s Copilot.
