Google DeepMind and Boston Dynamics, a subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Group, have announced a strategic partnership to integrate advanced artificial intelligence into the next generation of humanoid robots. The collaboration, revealed at CES 2026, will focus on embedding Google's Gemini Robotics AI foundation models into Boston Dynamics' new Atlas robots.
The partnership's goal is to move beyond pre-programmed routines, enabling the robots to learn, adapt, and reason in complex, real-world industrial environments. The initial focus will be on the automotive manufacturing industry, with plans to test the AI-powered Atlas robots at Hyundai's factories. This move aims to accelerate the development of more versatile and intelligent robots for a variety of industrial and commercial tasks.
