Google is expanding its "Results about you" tool, making it easier for users to have sensitive personal information removed from its search results. The update now covers government-issued IDs, such as driver's licenses, passports, and Social Security numbers, in addition to previously covered data like phone numbers and home addresses. This enhanced tool will initially be available in the U.S. before expanding to other regions.
The company also simplified the process for requesting the removal of non-consensual explicit images. Users can now report such images directly from the image results and submit requests for multiple images at once. It's important to note that these tools remove the content from Google's search results, but not from the original websites where the information is hosted.
