Google is negotiating with Samsung Electronics to produce a critical component for its 10th-generation Tensor Processing Unit (TPU), codenamed Icefish.

The discussions focus on Samsung manufacturing the memory input-output (I/O) die for the AI chip. Samsung would likely utilize its advanced 2-nanometer manufacturing process for this component.

Google aims to diversify its supply chain as surging demand for Nvidia chips causes manufacturing bottlenecks at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC).

TSMC remains Google’s primary partner and will continue to manufacture the main computing engine for the Icefish TPU.
