The Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) accused Google of abusing its dominant position in the Android app market. Regulators allege Google used an internal program called Project Hug to stifle competition from July 2019 to March 2026.

Google reportedly provided financial incentives to game developers to ensure their titles launched on the Play Store. These incentives required developers to offer terms at least as favorable as those on competing platforms.

The KFTC claims these practices blocked local rivals like One Store and forced developers into exclusive agreements. Google faces a potential fine of up to 6% of related revenue. This penalty could reach $547 million.
