Google has announced a significant AI upgrade for its Workspace suite, introducing conversational voice features for Docs, Gmail, and Keep at its annual I/O conference. The new capability, called "Docs Live," allows users to verbally brainstorm and generate first drafts by speaking their thoughts, which the AI then organizes into a structured document.
In Gmail, a similar feature named "Gmail Live" enables users to vocally search their inbox for specific information, like flight gate numbers, without manual searching. The system can access information across other Workspace apps like Drive and Chat to provide comprehensive answers. These Gemini-powered features are designed to act as a 'thought partner' and will begin rolling out to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the summer.
