Google has reached a settlement with Epic Games to resolve a long-standing antitrust dispute by implementing significant changes to its Play Store policies. The agreement, which awaits court approval, will apply to Google’s operations globally.

Google will reduce its maximum commission on in-app purchases from 30% to 20%. Certain transactions, including subscriptions and non-game cosmetic items, will see fees drop as low as 9%.

The settlement requires Google to simplify the installation of third-party app stores on Android devices. Developers may now offer alternative payment systems alongside Google’s billing service. Additionally, developers gain the right to direct users to external websites for purchases.
