Google has introduced Pics, a new AI-powered image generation and editing tool within its Workspace suite, announced at its I/O conference. The app allows users to edit specific elements within an image with precision, such as moving or resizing an object, without altering the rest of the picture. It can also modify and translate text directly inside a photo while maintaining the original font and style.
Pics is designed to compete with tools like Canva by simplifying the creative process for both professional and casual users. It will be integrated into other Workspace apps, starting with Slides and Drive. The new tool is rolling out this summer to subscribers of Google's AI Pro and Ultra plans, with a preview also becoming available for Google Workspace business customers.
