According to a report from data company Sensor Tower, Google’s Gemini AI is rapidly gaining market share on OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Between August and November 2025, Gemini’s monthly active users (MAUs) grew by over 30%, reaching 346 million.
This growth rate was six times faster than that of its competitor. During the same period, ChatGPT saw a 5% increase, reaching 810 million users.
While ChatGPT maintains its lead in total active users, Gemini’s weekly active users (WAUs) have surged significantly. Since early August, Gemini’s WAUs grew by 52%, compared to an 18% increase for its competitor.
This acceleration in user engagement and adoption stems from key product developments. The popularity of the Nano Banana image generator and the recent launch of the more advanced Gemini 3 model reportedly contributed to the significant uptick.
