A new analysis by The Washington Post found that most leading AI chatbots frequently provide left-leaning responses to political questions. The study tested prominent models including OpenAI's GPT-5.5, Google's Gemini 3.1 Pro, Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.8, and xAI's Grok 4.3, revealing distinct political leanings despite company promises of neutrality.

According to the report, the model powering ChatGPT answered almost exclusively with left-leaning arguments. In contrast, Google's Gemini took a "both-sides" approach in over 90% of its answers. The study also noted that even models marketed with a conservative viewpoint, such as Elon Musk's Grok and Gab's Arya, cited left-leaning arguments more often on average than right-leaning ones.
