Tony Wu, a co-founder of Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup xAI, resigned on February 10, 2026.

His departure marks the fifth exit from the original founding team. The company launched in 2023. The original founding team consisted of 12 members. Seven founding members now remain at the firm.

The series of high-profile departures raises questions regarding the internal stability of the well-funded startup. Previous exits include co-founders Igor Babuschkin, Kyle Kosic, Christian Szegedy, and Greg Yang.

This leadership churn occurs as xAI attempts to compete directly with industry leaders Google and OpenAI.
