Alphabet subsidiary Waymo and Uber terminated their Phoenix autonomous ride-hailing partnership in June 2026. The collaboration originally launched in late 2023.

Uber riders in Phoenix can no longer hail Waymo vehicles through the Uber app. The service previously covered a large operational area to scale autonomous ride-hailing for a broader audience.

The separation marks a strategic shift from industry collaboration to direct market competition. Waymo is now focusing on generating demand through its proprietary Waymo One app. Uber is pursuing alternative autonomous vehicle partnerships to replace the service.
