Alphabet’s Waymo initiated fully autonomous vehicle operations in Nashville, Tennessee.
Cars now operate on public roads without human safety drivers. This final testing phase precedes a commercial robotaxi launch scheduled for later this year.
The move advances a partnership with Lyft originally announced in September 2025. Waymo will offer initial public rides through the Waymo One app.
Future plans include integration with the Lyft app. Lyft subsidiary Flexdrive will manage fleet maintenance and operations.
