Alphabet's self-driving technology company, Waymo, has officially launched its fully autonomous ride-hailing service to the public in Miami as of January 22, 2026. This expansion makes Miami one of several U.S. cities, including Phoenix and San Francisco, where Waymo offers its driverless taxi service. The company is utilizing a fleet of all-electric Jaguar I-PACE vehicles for the new service.

The initial service area covers 60 square miles, encompassing prominent neighborhoods such as Brickell, Wynwood, Coral Gables, and the Design District. Waymo has stated its intention to expand the service to include Miami International Airport soon. The company noted that nearly 10,000 residents had already signed up for the service prior to its public launch, with new riders being added on a rolling basis.
