This total significantly outpaces the $5.9 billion raised in all of 2025. Investors closed 99 deals during the previous year.

Investors are concentrating capital in a few late-stage leaders ready to scale operations. Alphabet subsidiary Waymo raised $16 billion in a Series D funding round in February. This single deal accounts for approximately 75% of the sector's total funding this year.

Shield AI secured a $2 billion funding round. UK-based Wayve raised $1.3 billion in new financing. These investments indicate a strategic shift toward companies expected to dominate the market.
