Grab is addressing public concerns in Taiwan over data security as it seeks regulatory approval for its acquisition of Foodpanda's local business. [3, 5] The scrutiny stems from Grab's partnerships with Chinese technology firms, including Huawei and its investment in autonomous-driving company WeRide, which have raised national security alarms. In response, Grab clarified that its mapping partnership with Huawei is limited to Southeast Asia and permanently excludes Taiwan. [3, 4] The company also stated it does not use Alibaba Cloud for app data storage, relying instead on Amazon Web Services with primary data centers located in Singapore, outside of mainland China.
