The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) received a petition to investigate 806,963 Honda Odyssey minivans.
The request covers vehicles manufactured between model years 2011 and 2017.
Petitioners cite concerns regarding airbags deploying inadvertently while vehicles are in motion.
This investigation could lead to a large-scale recall of the popular minivan model.
Honda has not yet responded to requests for comment.
