Novo Nordisk announced positive top-line results from its STEP Young phase 3 trial evaluating semaglutide in children aged 6 to under 12 with obesity.
Approximately 40.4% of children receiving once-weekly semaglutide plus lifestyle modifications achieved a Body Mass Index (BMI) below the obesity threshold.
The trial identified no new safety concerns regarding growth or pubertal development. The safety profile remained consistent with previous studies involving adults and adolescents.
Detailed findings are scheduled for presentation at the ObesityWeek 2026 conference in November. These results may support future regulatory submissions to expand semaglutide's label for younger populations.
