Novo Nordisk announced Thursday that Chinese regulators approved its drug Wegovy for a new indication.
The approval covers the treatment of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), a serious liver disease.
Wegovy is the first GLP-1 receptor agonist approved for MASH treatment in China.
The decision expands the drug's market beyond its current applications in weight management and cardiovascular health.
