JetBlue Airways terminated its merger agreement with Spirit Airlines following a federal court ruling to block the deal. This decision concludes a multi-year acquisition attempt and forces the carrier to pursue a standalone growth strategy.

The airline will increase checked baggage fees starting in April 2026 to generate additional revenue. JetBlue is also launching new loyalty program features and enhanced credit card benefits to improve customer retention.

These strategic shifts aim to stabilize the company's finances without the scale provided by the Spirit acquisition.
