JetBlue Flight 1112, en route from Curaçao to New York's JFK airport, narrowly avoided a mid-air collision with a U.S. Air Force refueling tanker on Friday, December 12. Reports of the incident were released on December 15, 2025.
The near-miss occurred off the coast of Venezuela. The JetBlue pilot reported the military plane passed directly in their flight path.
In a recording with air traffic control, the pilot stated the military tanker did not have its transponder turned on, calling the incident "outrageous."
This event takes place amid heightened U.S. military activity in the Caribbean. Last month, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) advised U.S. aircraft to use caution in Venezuelan airspace.
No immediate market reaction was noted.
