Jes Staley, former JPMorgan Chase executive and Barclays CEO, admitted to sharing confidential market-sensitive information with Jeffrey Epstein. Staley provided this testimony during a U.S. House Oversight Committee probe into the late sex offender’s network.
A newly released transcript shows Staley shared Federal Reserve communications from the 2008 financial crisis. The disclosures included details on pending deals, Staley’s personal compensation, and significant private bank inflows.
Staley defended the exchanges by stating he believed he had the authority to share the information. He also confirmed warning Epstein about large cash withdrawals that led JPMorgan to designate Epstein as a high-risk client.
JPMorgan has already paid hundreds of millions of dollars in settlements regarding its ties to Epstein. This testimony adds further scrutiny to the bank’s historical relationship with the deceased financier.
