JPMorgan Asset Management is raising several billion dollars from institutional investors for a new direct lending strategy. The initiative leverages the firm’s commercial banking relationships to originate loans.

This move represents the bank's largest effort to re-establish a presence in the private credit market. The platform focuses on originating and investing in direct loans using existing infrastructure.

The strategy initially targets institutional investors through separately managed accounts and pooled funds. JPMorgan may eventually expand the offering to high-net-worth clients.
