JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon faces an inquiry from U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren. The inquiry concerns the bank's historical relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
In a letter, Senator Warren questioned if Mr. Dimon lobbied the UK government against a banker bonus tax. She asked if this lobbying was based on advice from Mr. Epstein.
The inquiry follows newly released documents. These include a 2009 email exchange where former British politician Peter Mandelson appeared to discuss with Mr. Epstein the possibility of Mr. Dimon calling the UK's then-chancellor.
Mr. Dimon previously stated under oath that he never met Mr. Epstein.
JPMorgan reiterated that Mr. Dimon was not involved in decisions regarding Mr. Epstein's account. The bank also stated that any suggestion of Mr. Dimon receiving advice from Mr. Epstein is false.
