KBR Inc. secured a contract to provide its proprietary PureSAF technology and engineering design for Kazakhstan's first sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production facility. The agreement involves KazMunayGas-Aero LLP (KMG-Aero), a subsidiary of the national oil and gas company, and KazFoodProducts (KFP).

The facility will utilize an alcohol-to-jet (AtJ) process to convert local agricultural feedstocks into SAF. This project supports the Kazakh president's directive to establish the nation as an international aviation hub. The initiative aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, though financial terms remain undisclosed.

The award expands KBR’s footprint in the aviation decarbonization market through its PureSAF technology. This development aligns with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions within the aviation sector.
