Eli Lilly and Company reported positive topline results from the TRIUMPH-2 and TRIUMPH-3 Phase 3 trials for retatrutide. The investigational drug is a first-in-class triple hormone receptor agonist targeting GIP, GLP-1, and glucagon.
In the TRIUMPH-2 study, adults with type 2 diabetes achieved an average weight loss of up to 20.8%. The TRIUMPH-3 trial recorded an average weight loss of up to 22.6% among patients with severe obesity and cardiovascular disease.
Lilly plans to submit a Biologics License Application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in the first quarter of 2027. The data strengthens Lilly's standing in the competitive market for weight-loss treatments.
