Chinese shareholders BAIC and Geely founder Li Shufu each own just under 10% of the German automaker. Mercedes-Benz clarified that no single shareholder exceeds a 10% stake.
The company stated these major shareholders lack direct representation on the supervisory board or involvement in business decisions. Mercedes-Benz currently supports approximately 160,000 jobs within the US economy.
Senators continue to debate the 15% ownership threshold. Lawmakers emphasized the bill's primary intent is not to ban Mercedes vehicles.
