Autonomous driving technology firm Mobileye announced it is acquiring humanoid robotics startup Mentee Robotics for approximately $900 million. The deal consists of about $612 million in cash and up to 26.2 million shares of Mobileye's Class A stock. The acquisition signals Mobileye's strategic expansion beyond the automotive industry into what it terms "physical AI."

The transaction is notable as Mobileye's President and CEO, Amnon Shashua, is also a co-founder and chairman of Mentee Robotics. To ensure proper governance, Shashua recused himself from the board's approval process for the deal, which has been approved by Mobileye's majority shareholder, Intel. Mentee will operate as an independent unit within Mobileye, with initial customer deployments expected in 2026.
