Microchip Technology signed a definitive agreement to acquire Hailo, an Israel-based specialist in edge artificial intelligence (AI) processors. The acquisition expands Microchip's portfolio for intelligent edge systems and power-efficient AI solutions. These technologies target applications in robotics, smart cameras, and industrial automation.
The deal includes Hailo's established product lines, specifically the Hailo-8, Hailo-10, and Hailo-15 processors. Hailo currently serves over 100 customers and supports a developer community of more than 10,000 users.
While financial terms were not disclosed, Microchip stated the transaction will not materially impact its financial results. The acquisition follows reports of cash flow challenges and a failed SPAC merger attempt at Hailo.
