MDA Space Ltd. will provide key technology to Mitsubishi Electric Corporation for Japan's next-generation defense communications satellite program. The company will design and manufacture the advanced digital payload, antennas, and various subsystems. This satellite will replace the existing DSN-2 (Kirameki-2) unit in geostationary orbit.
The project will leverage MDA's facilities in the United Kingdom and Canada. The UK division will supply core technology for the anti-jamming, resilient multi-beam payload. The Montreal facility will produce the advanced antenna solutions.
MDA Space will add the contract value to its backlog in the second quarter of fiscal 2026.
