Meta is testing a full-screen, algorithm-powered video feed for the Facebook app. Head of Facebook Tom Alison confirmed the feature will replace the traditional newsfeed as the default landing page. The test launches for a subset of users in select international markets later this year.

The redesign attempts to counter user drift toward TikTok among younger demographics. The classic newsfeed will remain accessible in a separate tab. Users in the test group retain the option to opt out of the new interface.

The experiment signals Meta’s shift toward immersive video for social interaction and commerce. A potential U.S. rollout could occur in 2025 if initial tests prove successful.
